Cost : €650

Duration : The course will run on Tuesday evenings ( 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm ) over 8 weeks from 11th April to the 30th May 2006 inclusive.

Who should take this course? This course is intended for those presently engaged in, or planning to undertake research in the health sciences including clinical medicine, public health medicine, nursing and the therapy disciplines.

Course aim : To provide a clear and practical introduction to basic biostatistics.

Learning goals : On completion of the course, participants will be able to set up and undertake an analysis of their own data and to appreciate the use and interpretation of key statistical tests routinely employed by medical researchers as reported in journals.

Prerequisites : No previous knowledge of biostatistics is assumed. Course notes will be provided.

Venue: Each of the eight evening session will take place in the INS & Llyod Building (see map) starting promptly at 6.30 pm . It is regretted that no parking facilities are available on the college grounds, however, parking is available in the An Post/TCD car park (see map for directions). For the latter, there is a change for use of this facility which is open until 10.45 pm .

Certificate of attendance : To receive a certificate, a participant will be required to attend 6 or more sessions.

Withdrawal from the course : if you choose to withdraw from the course after registration but before it starts, you will receive a complete refund minus a handling charge. Withdrawal after the course has begun would not normally entitle you to any refund of the fee, although SAHRU Ltd. will consider any such request sympathetically if need be.
